STEWARDSHIP

Through our diverse Natural England stewardship agreements over the last ten years we have carried out hedgerow planting,  improved our species rich grasslands, improved  water quality, provided over winter stubbles for ground nesting birds and sown cover crops to improve soil health and prevent soil erosion and nutrient leaching.   Our current agreements are ending this year and we have proposed a highly ambitious and exciting environmental plan for the farm under the next Countryside Stewardship programme, starting in 2021.

WORKING WITH PARTNERS

We have teamed up with Wessex Water and Natural England’s Catchment Sensitive Farming project to improve cattle housing and over wintering practices, including planting cover crops, to significantly reduce nutrient run-off into local water courses.
